Purpose of Project 

The purpose of the The Roots of Reading, TROR for short, is to give those interested in pocket sized e-readers an entry point into the pocket ereader space. That's where the Inkpalm 5 comes in. It's a budget friendly device that's rather recent. At the end of the day TROR wants everyone to have access to such a nifty device!

Inspiration 

For a while I used Amazon's 10th Generation Kindle Paperwhite as my main ereader. I loved the device, and still do, but I wanted something that was even more convenient and portable. I wanted something that I could just whip out and not feel too awkward about. I did some research and came across the Xiaomi Moaan Inkpalm 5 which I found to be just what I needed! The only downside of it was that it is a Chinese device with the intended audience being those within that geographical area. I'd have to do some tinkering with the device to fulfill my needs which could be inconvenient but I was willing to do it. As I read through guides I thought of those who weren't comfortable or just too lazy to mess around with the device for configurations. This project is for those who aren't tech savvy or aren't interested in making those modifications. I want everyone to have access to a device as nifty as this one.

Goal 

TROR's goal is for the price of the product to never change. The price will stay to the same from beginning to end. Of course this will bring caveats but that's to be expected. The goal is access.
